First governor of California, Burnett writes from the state's first capitol, sending papers concerning Johnson's claim on Gen. McCarver and he mentions his Sacramento lots. He urges Judge Pratt to come to California." ... This is the great theatre of business; and what right have you to be in Oregon? If a farmer can make a bare living in that country, he can grow rich here ..."
